- Vin Diesel, a longtime player, wrote an introduction to the book Thirty Years of Adventure: Celebrating Dungeons and Dragons.
- Judy Dench was reportedly introduced to the game by Vin Diesel.

Jesse McCarthy, Lauren Graham
- Joss Whedon played D&D in college.
- Stephen Colbert was a big player as a kid and still plays now.
- Ewan McGreggor reportedly plays.
- John McCain does not play, and his staff at least do not respect those who do.

- The Sarah Silverman Show’s Brian Posehn has played weekly for five years.

I think Weird Al plays too…
They were not the fanatical militarist aiming to take over the city aims to Promote New “The World War II theme based” MMOFPS, Karma II, Which is developed by Dragonfly.
lol! Gerard way? he even mentions he plays it in one of his music vids (i’m not okay)!
I only play when not riding the Long Way on my beamer, and sometimes Charlie and I LARP in the camp. Cheers
For the record, if you read Wil Wheaton’s blog, his interest in D&D has gone FAR beyond his time on Next Generation. He’s played several times with his kids, had a “celebrity” game podcasted with the web comic artists/writers of PvP and Penny Arcade, and even wrote a monthly column in Dungeon magazine for a while.
Heck, just yesterday he tweeted (twittered? twooted?) about his debate on the set of Leverage about the value of 3d6 vs d20 vs 2d10. So even if he doesn’t have a weekly game all the time (heck, even I don’t right now), he’s definitely in the “current fan” category.
Clearly 2d10! ;)
But seriously, I’m sure there are many more. I heard an interview with an author who grew up in the Baltimore projects with a dad who wrote for the Black Panthers, and he played D&D. Actors especially would be greatly influenced by it, I’m sure.
That would be Ta-nehisi Coats, author and blogger for The Atalantic.
He spoke recently about playing D&D as a kid during an interview on NPR and has mentioned the game in his blogs.

I know for a fact that Daryl Hannah plays all kinds of games. Her agents approached WotC with a game she had invented, they never came to terms. I also believe that she’s in Mensa.
I don’t remember the actors name, but the guy that played Bubba Fet (if that’s spelled right, not my skill) was a guest at TSR’s convention in the UK. He played a role playing game with a bunch of the attendees. It was very cool of him. But then he had a seminar to attend and so he killed them all off. Very funny and a great claim for all those fans…getting knocked off by the famed Bubba Fet.
The guy that played R2D2 was very…uh…friendly. Very. We had several meals with them.

any guys who don’t want a girl in their group need to watch the movie gamers 2!
If you play now…or played in the past, both “Gamers” movies are a must see!
I don’t mean to be nitpicky but the actress is called Lauren Graham not Laura
Not picky at all! That’s exactly the kind of stuff I want to know.
Thanks, I’ll fix it.
Like Christine P I always wanted to learn to play but none of the guys wanted a girl in their group.
So, I just got my pseudo-D&D fix by reading DragonLance.
I feel terrible about this! Who are these guys? Jerks!
Ewan McGregor plays? I always knew that guy rocked!
I’ve always wanted to play, but unfortunately, all the people I knew that played feared girls!
John McCain…don’t get me started.
Figures though.
Um, yeah…no comment. ;-)
Love it!
Yes, I read that. Good story, isn’t it? :-)
