TheTorchOnline.com is an online magazine that features original news and reviews of fantasy-themed projects in all media, but especially movies, television, and books. We regularly interview the most accomplished, most interesting individuals working in the field of fantasy entertainment.
Recent original interviews include Xena: Warrior Princess’s Lucy Lawless and Ted Raimi; Fringe’s Anna Torv; Spartacus‘ Andy Whitfield, Peter Mensah, and Steven DeKnight; Merlin’s Colin Morgan and Anthony Stewart Head; the stars and creators of Legend of the Seeker, Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire, and Warehouse 13; Dominic Monaghan, Wonder Woman’s Lynda Carter; authors Jacqueline Carey and Tamora Pierce; the creator of Pushing Daisies; and many others.
We believe that, in general, the fantasy genre is a rich and intelligent one, often not given the respect and attention it deserves—either ignored and ridiculed by the wider culture, or unfairly lumped in with science fiction even in genre circles.
We define “fantasy” broadly. In general, if it involves magic, we cover it, but we also cover some paranormal and “otherworld”-themed projects, as well as some projects involving history-based adventure and/or palace intrigue. Most superheroes also fall under our rubric.
We don’t usually cover science fiction, although we recognize that many fantasy fans are also fans of that genre, so we reserve the right to cover projects we think might be of interest to our readers.
TheTorchOnline.com is edited by author Brent Hartinger. Playwright Tim O’Leary is the Associate Editor. We work with a large stable of professional freelance writers.
