The syndicated fantasy show Legend of the Seeker has apparently been canceled, but fans of the program aren’t giving up on the possibility of a third season. They’re currently organizing a campaign to purchase an ad in a trade publication such as Variety or Hollywood Reporter.
“The purpose of the ad is two-fold,” says Laura Ventura, one of the project organizers. “To thank the cast, crew and all those who made Seeker possible, and to demonstrate to potential networks the depth of the fans’ loyalty.”
Such a full-page ad in Variety would cost $6,244; a half-page ad would cost $3,739. Ventura says that the same ads in Hollywood Reporter may be cheaper.
As of earlier this evening, the effort had already raised $1000.

I am truly touched and amazed by this fandom and how ardently everyone is fighting to save Seeker from the Keeper. I hope the industry wakes up and realizes what a gold mine this precious show is. There’s just nothing like Legend of the Seeker on TV anymore. Donated some yesterday and will do so again tomorrow. I love this show so much.

I donated a few dollars to the advertisement fund. I to agree that Disney/ABC 100% failed on merchandising and other revenue generating activities for LotS. I am also getting tired of the whole industry canceling good scifi/fantasy shows before they can get into a good rhythm. Looks like the fund is growing quickly, looks like several ads are forthcoming and increased visibility. Maybe a TV ad/Web ad could be made and circulated. TV ad rates can be reasonable and major market ads could be put out.

Today is payday, so I’ve donated as well. I couldn’t imagine spending what extra money I have on getting back the one show I happen to watch. I just hope someone pays attention.

There is so much potential in this TV-show that I feel only the fans see. Merchandise for example. I’d be thrilled to buy a LotS calendar or the LotS soundtrack (on CD) or other related things, but I can’t because they don’t exist. I’ve been waiting eagerly for season 1 to be released in PAL (region2) versions (I have the region1 version and still I’d buy a region2 version), and I imagine I’m not the only one. But as of now, no such version exists. I just hope they think to release season 2 at all. =/

Hey, great to see another croatian fan, as myself! :) also donated, and buying dvd’s. This is only way to legally support this great show that capture my heart. Sad to see to go away just after two season, it deserves at least 2 more, plus movie.
