The Reaper Comes for “Reaper”

Posted on 19 April 2009 by Brent Hartinger, Editor

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Reaper, the CW show about a guy whose parents sold his soul to the devil and must now track down renegade souls for Satan, has not been renewed for a third season.

Ratings for the current season, which was an abbreviated (but thematically appropriate) 13 episodes, have been considerably lower than the first season, and the last two new episodes have been the lowest-rated of all, both with a .9/2 rating/share, less than half the number of viewers who watched the 2007 pilot.

Six un-aired episodes remain. The show will air its last new episode on May 26th.

Over at Reaper DMV News, a fan site, they’re holding out hope that, since the network has not officially announced the cancellation, the show may yet come back after all. “News of Reaper’s death was premature last season,” they write.
